WAYNE LYDON/ADRIAN BURNSIDE UPDATE

From the off-season free agent market, 2006 Chiefs outfielder Wayne Lydon recently signed a minor league deal with the Washington Nationals (Columbus -AAA) for the 2007 season.  Lydon led the Chiefs with 12 triples, 28 stolen bases and 80-runs scored last season.  He was offered a contract to play in Syracuse again in 2007, but decided on Washington.  For more on Wayne Lydon’s decision to go to Washington listen to INSIDE PITCH on ESPN RADIO 1260 AM, Saturday, November 11th at 9:00 AM as Bob McElligott and Chiefs GM John Simone talk to Blue Jays Director of Player Development **** Scott.  Also on the Show are MLB Executive Vice President of Operations Jimmie Lee Solomon and Chiefs President Don Waful, a Veteran of WWII discuss what Veterans Day means to him.

The Chiefs also lost lefthanded pitcher Adrian Burnside to the San Diego Padres (Portland – AAA) for the 2007 season.  Burnside spent the past two seasons in Syracuse.  Last year, he was placed on the disabled list June 1st and although he returned to the mound a month later, pitched in only 8-games over the final 3-months.

The Blue Jays are busy contacting minor league free agents and hope to announce their signings for the 2007 season soon.
