WAR IN IRAQ TOUCHES AAA BASEBALL
The Syracuse Chiefs and all of AAA Baseball express their sadness to hear that United States Army Colonel and University of Oklahoma College of Medicine graduate Dr. Brian D. Allgood was among 12 service members killed last week when their Black Hawk helicopter crashed northeast of Baghdad. Dr. Allgood was the cousin of Oklahoma Red Hawks Executive Director John Allgood.
Dr. Allgood , an orthopedic surgeon, was the top medical officer for the United States troops in Iraq. He previously oversaw military hospitals in Korea and U.S. Military Academy in West Point, NY where he graduated in 1982.
He had been stationed in Iraq since last summer and was very well respected by all of his peers. He was born in Germany in 1960 and came from a military and medical family. Brian Allgood completed his medical residency at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas. He later completed the Army’s rigorous Ranger school and parachuted into Panama during the 1989 invasion.
“We have a lot of boys in the Allgood family, and Brian was the oldest, and he set a wonderful example for all of us to follow as we were growing up” said the Red Hawks John Allgood.
