Former Syracuse pitcher Chad Gaudin is having a breakout year for the Oakland Athletics. Gaudin picked up his 5th win of the season last night and has now won four straight decisions. The right-hander is 5-1 and ranks 2nd in the American League with a 2.32 ERA behind only his teammate Dan Haren.
Gaudin who was traded to the A’s by the Blue Jays at the Winter Meetings in December of 2005 made 55 appearances out of the bullpen last season registering a 4-2 record and a 3.09 ERA.
When Esteban Loaiza was sidelined prior to the start of the season the A’s gave Gaudin a shot in the starting rotation and Chad has made the most of his opportunity. With Loaiza and Rich Harden both currently on the DL Gaudin has found a home in the A’s rotation.
