ALUMNI REPORT: GLYNN
In today’s Alumni Report we take a look at former Syracuse pitcher Ryan Glynn who is playing for the Hokkaido Nippon Ham Fighters in Japan.
Glynn currently ranks 4th in the Central League with a 2.25 ERA and has a record of 9-7. He has made 20 starts pitching 136 innings, walking 27 and striking out 36. Earlier this season Glynn won seven straight decisions including going 5-0 in Interleague Play and being named the Interleague MVP. For that honor he earned a bonus of two million yen, which according to this currency translator is equal to a little over $17,000 dollars.
Glynn is in his second year in Japan. Last season he went 7-7 with a 3.96 ERA for the Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles.
The right-hander from Virgina Military Institute spent part of both the 2004 and 2005 seasons in Syracuse. He was signed as a Minor League free agent in 2004 after being released by the Richmond Braves. That season he went on to go 7-2 with a 3.40 ERA for Syracuse. He re-signed with Syracuse in 2005 and was 2-4 with a 6.27 ERA before being traded to the Oakland Athletics for cash.
