The Round Rock Express (Houston Astros) defeated the Syracuse Chiefs on Monday 4-3 in Kissimmee, FL.

The Chiefs lineup consisted of:

Luke Montz C

On the Mound Tyler Clippard started and pitched 3 shutout innings allowing only 1 hit. Righthander Bobby Brownlie pitched the ninth giving up the winning run.

The Chiefs take on the Toledo Mud Hens (Detroit Tigers) in Lakeland, FL on Wednesday.

I hope you’re right that the Chiefs fans do get the last laugh. But since there are far more Mets fans around here than Nat’s fans, I think fan interest and attendance would have been much greater if they had landed the Mets. Regardless, it’s water under the bridge now.

Anyway, who are the Nat’s top prospects that we should be watching? I hear that pitcher Jordan Zimmerman is one of them. Are there others?

I’m excited about the slew of outfielders they’ll have. Sounds like they’ll be pretty solid at catcher. Pitchers like Balester could be a real prospect as well. A question mark in my mind would be the infield. There should certainly be a lot of balls flying out of ABS this season; hopefully, it won’t be thanks to Chiefs’ pitching.

Time will tell as to whether or not the Chiefs would have been better off with the Mets. For now, let’s give these guys a chance. Remember the full court press the Washington brass put on to land the agreement. If their former GM was speaking for the organization about wanting to win at Triple-A, and if that philosophy remains intact, I’d say there’s more reason for optimism than there ever was under the Jays (for whom I still root) or even the Yankees.
