After spending last season playing Independent League and the previous season in Mexico, OF Chad Hermansen (’04) is hitting .293 with 9 HR and 44 RBI in 82 games.
FRESNO GRIZZLIES, SAN FRANCISCO GIANTS
IF Luis Figueroa (’06) is back in Triple-A after a cup of coffee with the Giants. “Figgy” is hitting .295 with 1 HR and 27 RBI in 72 games.
IOWA CUBS, CHICAGO CUBS
C Mike Mahoney (’06) has appeared in just 10 games and is hitting .158. Pitcher Ben Howard (’06) is 5-3 with a 3.65 ERA in 34 games. Pitcher Mike Nannini has appeared in 3 games and has a 3.38 ERA.
LAS VEGAS, LA DODGERS
C Ken Huckaby (’02-’03, ’05) has appeared in 53 games and is hitting .269 with 1 HR and 26 RBI. Pitcher Spike Lundberg (’05) has made 23 appearances including 11 starts and is 5-4 with a 6.03 ERA.

Syracuse native Scott Cassidy (’98, ’01-’03) has made 20 appearances and is 1-1 with a 3.98 ERA and 6 saves. Adrian Burnside (’05-’06) is Cassidy’s bullpen mate and has appeared in 9 games with a 2.79 ERA.

With Spring Training starting for many major league teams this week we glanced through major league baseball rosters and below is a list of former Chiefs players invited to major league camps as non-roster players:

In addition the Blue Jays added John Ford Griffin and Erick Kratz to their spring training roster as well as Rob Cosby and Ryan Roberts who were designated for assignment in January and taken off the major league roster. Only Figueroa, Lydon and Burnside are from the Chiefs 2006 roster.
WAYNE LYDON/ADRIAN BURNSIDE UPDATE
From the off-season free agent market, 2006 Chiefs outfielder Wayne Lydon recently signed a minor league deal with the Washington Nationals (Columbus -AAA) for the 2007 season. Lydon led the Chiefs with 12 triples, 28 stolen bases and 80-runs scored last season. He was offered a contract to play in Syracuse again in 2007, but decided on Washington. Also on the Show are MLB Executive Vice President of Operations Jimmie Lee Solomon and Chiefs President Don Waful, a Veteran of WWII discuss what Veterans Day means to him.
The Chiefs also lost lefthanded pitcher Adrian Burnside to the San Diego Padres (Portland – AAA) for the 2007 season. Burnside spent the past two seasons in Syracuse. Last year, he was placed on the disabled list June 1st and although he returned to the mound a month later, pitched in only 8-games over the final 3-months.
The Blue Jays are busy contacting minor league free agents and hope to announce their signings for the 2007 season soon.
