After visits this week by Adam Sandler’s Lunch Lady on Tuesday and professional golfer Caroline Larsson on Wednesday, former Cowboys defensive end Ed “Too Tall” Jones will stop by the ballpark on Thursday.
Jones, a two-time All-Pro, will throw out the ceremonial first pitch prior to Thursday’s game. All fans in attendance on Thursday will be able to register for a free raffle drawing to win a football autographed by Jones.
Jones is in town to participate in the Boxing Hall of Fame’s induction weekend and is being brought to Alliance Bank Stadium thanks to Champions 4 Champions and Spadora on Sports. Too Tall took a year off from playing for the Cowboys to try his hands as a professional boxer in 1979. He won all of his professional bouts, but went back to the football field the following year.
A big THANK YOU to Duramed FUTURES Tour golfer Caroline Larsson for stopping by Alliance Bank Stadium tonight. Thanks also go out to our friends at Alliance Bank for bringing her out to the ballpark. Caroline was in town to promote the Alliance Bank Golf Classic, which will be held July 18-20 at the Links at Erie Village.
Caroline, currently the 14th ranked player on the tour, competed against Chiefs pitcher Bill Murphy and WHEN’s Jim Lerch in a pre-game “closest to the pin” contest. Lerch (under the guidance of caddy Perry Noun) and Murphy hit a few good shots, but Caroline managed the wind like the professional golfer she is and won the contest.
Caroline also threw out the game’s ceremonial first pitch, signed autographs on the concourse and visited the Chiefs’ radio booth before leaving the ballpark.
Thanks again, Caroline and good luck!
Don’t miss professional golfer Caroline Larsson at Alliance Bank Stadium on Wednesday night. Larsson plays on the Duramed FUTURES Tour and is in town to promote the Alliance Bank Golf Classic, which will be held in Syracuse next month.
Larsson will compete with Chiefs pitcher Bill Murphy and WHEN’s Jim Lerch in a “Closest to the Pin” contest on the field before the game. She will then throw out the game’s ceremonial first before heading up to the concourse to sign autographs from 7:00 pm until about 7:45 pm.
