Congratulations Danny Ainge!

Our congratulations go out to former Chiefs infielder Danny Ainge on capturing another NBA Championship last night.  Ainge also won two titles in Boston as a player in the 1980’s.

Ainge played in 226 games for the Chiefs the 1978-’80 seasons after being drafted by the Blue Jays in 1977.  The BYU product reached the Major Leagues in 1979, but gave up his baseball career after being drafted by the Celtics in 1981.
After retiring as a player, Ainge coached the Phoenix Suns before taking over as the Celtics’ Director of Basketball Operations in 2003.

Hope you had a chance to hear “Inside Pitch” our new weekly talk show devouted to baseball in Central New York.  Our host Bob McElligott did a great job for the first show with guest Jason and Steve Grilli who offered their insights on a majical season in Detriot.  Chiefs GM and co-host John Simone brought us up-to-date on what really happened with the working agreement changes in the I.L. and explained  that the team will play on either field turf or grass in 2007 or as late as 2008.  The decision will be that of Onondaga County and the County Legislature. MLB Executive Jimmie Lee Solomon was unable to hook up with us this week due to his duties at the World Series, but will be a guest on next weeks show to talk about the recently announced agreeement with the players association for another 5 years….Syracuse Crunch took two home games this weekend and after a terrible start they seem to be on track to compete against a tough conference…..Red Auerbach passed away on Saturday and with him so did much of the Celtic pride.  Former Chifs infielder Danny Ainge, one of Auerbachs favorites was brought in a ew years ago to restore the team.  Hopefully, Danny can rekindle Red’s spirit and bring the Celtics back.
