TOUGH BREAK FOR PATTERSON
Tough break for Blue Jays minor league outfielder Ryan Patterson who broke a bone in his left forearm and will be out of action for at least three months. Drafted out of LSU two years ago, the righthanded hitting centerfielder was hit by a pitch against the Red Sox on Thursday with two outs in the top of the ninth inning. Last season split between A Dunedin and AA-New Hampshire, Ryan hit .277 with 25 HR’s and 89 RBI and picked up his 2nd consecutive R. Howard Webster Award. Patterson was expected to start the season in AA-New Hampshire again this season, but could have moved up somewhat like Adam Lind did last season when he joined the Chiefs in July.
