Former Syracuse Chiefs pitcher Pat Dobson passed away during the holiday weekend at the age of 64. Dobson pitched for the Chiefs in 1964 and in 1965 and was part of the young guns in the Tigers organization that included Denny Mclain, Mickey Lolich and John Hiller. He spent 13 years in the major leagues with Detroit, San Diego, Baltimore, Atlanta, Yankees and Clevelend. In 1971 he won 20 games for the Orioles, who won the World Series. He also pitched in the 1968 World Series with the Tigers. Pat also spent parts of three years with the Yankees and won 19-games for the bombers in 1974. He came to the Yankees from Atlanta in a deal that saw four Chiefs players Frank Tepedino, Wayne Nordhagen, Alan Closter and Dave Cheadle go from Syracuse to Richmond in the middle of the season. Pat was born in Buffalo, NY but spent spent most of his life living in San Diego, CA. He worked for the Padres organization in Player Development and Scouting after his baseball career ended.
